Hello Beer Fans!
I have lots of good stuff to tell you about for the month of Febrewary. Tonight we will have some specialty meads (honey wines) from Redstone Meadery in Boulder, CO. As a special treat, our friend and Chairman of the Mead/Redstone owner David Myers will be at the pub form 6-8 pm. Look for a Tequila Barrel Sunshine Nectar, Passion Fruit Nectar and bottles of Coffee Bean Mountain Honey Wine.
In addition to Redstone Meads, we will have beers from Nickel Beer in Julian this evening, two of which will feature mead in a blend. We will have the Redstonewall Stout – Nickel Stonewall Stout blended with Vanilla Cinnamon Mead, and Barrel Aged Redstonewall Stout – Vanilla Cinnamon Mead blended with barrel aged Stonewall Stout. We will also have the new Nickel Larry’s Place IPA brewed to celebrate the 4th Anniversary of West Coast Barbecue and Brew along with a cask of Chocolate Filthy Paws Porter.
Over the weekend we will have a nice line up of Fall Brewing beers including 2 am Bike Ride (nitro coffee stout), Green Hat IPA, Plenty for All Pils, Unicorn Stampede (hoppy red) and Loudspeaker (session IPA). Look for all of those beers to be on tap by 5 pm Friday and then on tap throughout the weekend.
Speaking of the weekend, we will be open regular hours every day over the holiday weekend – 11:30 am to 1 am on Friday and Saturday, 11:30 am to 6 pm on Sunday and 11 am to 11 pm on Monday the 15th. Fieldwork sent down a collaboration beer that they brewed with Alpine and we are going to tap it on Monday the 15th. Look for specific details on our Facebook page. And you can almost always find our daily food specials posted on our Facebook page. Sunday and Monday we will feature our beer battered fish specials – tacos, fish and chips and the chipotle fish torta.
On Thursday the 18th we will debut our second 22nd Anniversary beer – an English Pale Ale brewed at Abnormal Brewing Company. We will have the beer on both cask and draft starting at 5 pm that night.
Friday the 19th we kick off a Bell’s Brewing Company weekend with the release of Hopslam. We will have a great selection of Bell’s brews including Expedition Stout, Two Hearted IPA, Lager of Lakes and Smitten Golden Rye. Hopslam will be on by 5 pm on Friday.
The UEFA Champions League returns next week with live games at 11:45 am on Tuesday and Wednesday, the 16th and 17th as well as the 23rd and 24th. The return legs will begin on March 8th. Tuesday the 23rd is probably the best day of games with Arsenal taking on Barcelona and Juventus hosting Bayern Munich.
The pub will be CLOSED on Sunday the 21st for our annual Employee Party. Look for West Coast Barbecue and Brew and Nickel Beer to both be open on that day.
Also happening next week we will start to sell tickets for our annual Charity Keg of Russian River’s Pliny the Younger. We will tap the Charity keg at 5 pm on Wednesday the 24th and the only way to get a glass will be to sign up in advance. 100% of the money will go to animal related charities around town. We will be selling 10 oz glasses for $20 each with a limit of 2 per person. The tickets will go on sale at 4:30 pm on Thursday the 18th. This will guarantee you a glass on Wednesday the 24th with no lines to wait in. For those who like lines, we will be tapping our first keg on Saturday afternoon, the 20th. Look for a precise time in next week’s email. We’ll also have a keg at lunch on Tuesday the 23rd when we open at 11 am.
We are finalizing plans for a cheese-themed tasting with Rip Current in March on Sunday the 13th. Look for more details in the next few emails. Plans are also in the works for a Flight on Convoy on Tuesday, March 1st featuring Nickel and Abnormal. We will be featuring barrel aged beers from Nickel Beer including Double Dubbel Animal Style, a rum barrel aged Belgian-style quad.
And look for Benchmark brewing beers including the Hildegard Triple IPA on tap the week of February 29th after our Sunday night beer dinner (which is now sold out).
That is your good beer news for now. We’ll see you soon for a great Redstone Mead or Fall beer. Cheers, Tom
