Hello Beer Fans,
There is nothing like the last minute for getting things done, right? The final pallet of kegs for our East Coast Brewery Weekend showed up late this afternoon – just in time to get chilled down in our cold box to serve up tomorrow night. Starting at 5 pm on Friday the 25th we will be tapping kegs from Burial Beer in Asheville, NC and Other Half Brewing from Brooklyn, NY. Here is what we will be tapping for the weekend.
Other Half Brewing
If you can’t make it by on Friday, look for the beers to be on tap throughout the weekend. Stop by and enjoy these rare treats. Saturday we will be serving up Birthday Bacon starting at 5 pm.
Beer at the Races
Tyson and I will be at the Pizza and Beer Festival at the Del Mar Races on Saturday from 12:30 to 5 pm. Nickel Beer Company will have a booth and we’ll be serving up two of our wet hop beers. Look for Hook In Mouth Chinook Wet Hop IPA (brewed with Star B Hop Ranch Chinook grown in Santa Ysabel) and our Wet Hop Table Beer which was a collaboration with Benchmark Brewing and South Park Brewing. It is a light, 3.6% alcohol Belgian style ale made with 100% wet hops from Star B Hop Ranch – Mt. Hood, Glacier and Magnum. It is freaking delicious and a perfect warm weather beer.
There will be over 100 craft beers on tap and one of the cool things about this festival is that you can actually order full pints of the beers in addition to buying wristbands for tasting. The Pizza Trucks are a perfect pairing to beer and the horse racing. The evening ends with a free Slightly Stoopid concert after the last race. The pub will be CLOSED on Monday, September 4th for Labor Day. Look for both Nickel Beer Company in Julian and West Coast Barbecue and Brew to be open all day. Nickel Beer will open at Noon and there will be 6 wet hop beers with locally brewed hops on tap. West Coast will open at 11:30 with craft beer pitchers starting at just $12, 50 Cent Wings and $3 Tacos all day long. If you have been enjoying our Mac n Cheese nights on Thursday at the pub you can also sneak over to West Coast on Wednesdays when they cook up specialty Mac n’ Cheese dishes.
Mark your calendars with the San Diego Wet Hop Weekend taking place on September 15th, 16th and 17th. We will be pouring beers made with San Diego grown hops across lots of different styles from all over Southern California. We will likely kick off the fun on Thursday the 14th with a wet hop cask. We’ll have more details in a future email as many of these beers are being brewed right now but we are expecting to be pouring more than 25 wet hop beers over the 3 days.
Our September Beer Dinner will be with Burning Beard and Nickel Beer Company with a focus on wet hop beers. It will be on Sunday, September 24th at 6:30 pm. we will start selling tickets next week. Be sure to check the Facebook page for updates.
