Hello Beer Fans!
The pub is cooking up a Rib Eye Steak Special for dinner tonight. You get a 12 oz Rib Eye, Mashed Potatoes, Side Salad and a pint of any beer for just $25. As an added bonus for tonight the special also includes a 20 oz Societe glass to take home. We’ll have Societe Pupil, Apprentice and Heiress all on tap. Tyson and the kitchen have been cooking the steaks sous vide – in warm water to a perfect medium rare. They are super tender and juicy. Ditch your dinner plans and get to the pub.
In addition to Societe beers we have a great line up of Council Brewing beers including our 24th Anniversary collaboration Fun With Friends. It is a golden barrel aged sour with Chardonnay and Muscat grape juice from Menghini Winery in Julian added to the barrels. It has a great acid balance with pronounced fruit aromas and flavors. Look for other great Council beers like Bully Pulpit, Beg for Murky and Broken Wand on tap as well.
This weekend we will be staying open late on Sunday for the Superbowl to show the whole game. The kitchen will be closing up at 3 pm and after that it will be Bring Your Own Food- just don’t make too much of a mess for Alli to clean up. We will have Pliny the Elder on tap for the game.
Next Friday we are going to tap a keg of Bell’s Hopslam to go with our Rib Eye Steak Special. I have not confirmed this but if convention holds I expect to tap our first keg of Russian River Pliny the Younger on Saturday, February 10th. As soon as we confirm shipping details I will send out an email next week.
The pub is going to be CLOSED on Sunday, February 11th so that we can do our employee party. West Coast Barbecue and Brew will also be closed but Nickel Beer Company will be open from Noon to 5 pm on that day.
Next Tuesday, February 6th Tyson and I are going to be at Galaxy Taco in La Jolla. He is the guest chef for their Tuesday Takeover and we will be pairing his tacos with Nickel Jalapeno Gold. You can get all of the info on Galaxy Taco here: http://www.galaxytaco.com/.
On a related note, the airing of Tyson’s Bacon Fest episode on Food Network has been pushed back and we are waiting to confirm a new date. As soon as we know, we will pass along the information.
We only have a few seats left for our Bitter Brothers Dinner on Sunday, February 25th. We will be releasing the outrageously good fruited barrel aged version of O Brother Where Tart Thou featuring Apricot and Peach. I know it seems like a long way out but we have fewer than 10 seats remaining so don’t wait long to sign up.
Finally, I am going to be on the FM 94.9 Rock n’ Roll Happy Hour tonight drinking up some Nickel Beer. The radio station has moved into a new building and I am honored to be the first guest for this show in the new studio. I will be on from 7-8 pm enjoying 5 different Nickel Beers and listening to some Tom-themed music.
That is your good beer news for now. Look for an email next week with more details on the Younger release including our charity keg tapping. Cheers, Tom
